House fire leaves 5 killed, 4 injured in U.S. state of New Jersey

Baku-APA. Local authorities confirmed that five people died in a fatal house fire in the U.S. state of New Jersey on Thursday morning, and four others were injured, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan said the fire took place in a white multifamily home in South Plainfield of New Jersey between 2:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., and the five victims were family members.

Neighbors told local media that the first floor of the destroyed portion of the home was engulfed in flames and the fire spread up to the roof crazily.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation.

South Plainfield, a town of nearly 24,000, is about 38 miles southwest of New York City.
