Baku-APA. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has acknowledged that the US sanctions against Tehran are hurting the average Iranians, APA reports quoting Press TV.

“I am aware that from time to time certain sanctions can be difficult for totally innocent people (Iranians) going about their daily lives,” Clinton said in an interview with the Persian language service of the state-run BBC on Wednesday.

As a consequence of a recent US-engineered sanction against Iran, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced on October 10 that it would close its payment services to Iranian citizens using the state-owned airline, Iran Air.

Meanwhile, Clinton said that the US planned to launch a "virtual embassy" for Iran, which will give Iranians online information about visa applications and student exchange programs despite the lack of formal diplomatic ties between the Islamic Republic and the United States.

She further claimed that the US was prepared to hold direct or indirect talks with Iran.
