Obama to make statement on troops level in Iraq

Baku-APA. U.S. President Barack Obama is to make a statement on Iraq troops level Friday, according to media reports, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

CNN reported Obama is poised to announce the administration is pulling out all U.S. troops from Iraq by the end of this year, after speaking via video conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

Earlier reports indicated Washington has abandoned plans to keep troops in Iraq next year, except for about 160 active-duty soldiers attached to the U.S. embassy there.

Reports also indicated the U.S. side couldn’t get Iraqis to agree to give the troops immunity.
