UN chief voices sorrow, sympathy with Kenyan victims of petrol pipeline blast

Baku-APA. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday expressed his sorrow and sympathy with the families of the victims in the explosion of a petrol pipeline in Kenya, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"The secretary-general expresses his sorrow and sympathy with the families of the victims of the explosion of a petrol pipeline today in Nairobi, as well as with the government and people of Kenya," Martin Nesirky, Ban’s spokesman, said in a statement issued here.

The secretary-general "also wishes a full and speedy recovery to the survivors," Nesirky said. "The United Nations stands in solidarity with the people of Kenya at this difficult moment."

A leaking petrol pipeline in Nairobi, capital of Kenya, exploded on Monday, leaving at least 75 people killed and more than 100 others hurt, reports said.
