Baku-APAEgypt's cabinet spokesman Alaa al- Hadidi confirmed his resignation on Tuesday over the ongoing political crisis and the division hitting the country between pro- and anti-president protesters, APA reports quoting official news agency MENA .

Hadidi tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Hesham Qandil and stopped going to work since Monday morning, asserting the decision is final, MENA said.

Meanwhile, state-run Ahram news website reported Tuesday that presidential spokespersons Ehab Fahmi and Omar Amer had also submitted their resignations after the Islamist-oriented President Mohamed Morsi refused their calls for holding a referendum over his stay.

Sports Minister Al-Amri Farouk resigned Tuesday, saying he would not go to his office anymore, according to Ahram, while Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr also resigned earlier in the day, a day after five other ministers quit over the ongoing mass anti-government protests across Egypt.

On Monday, the ministers of tourism, environment, communication, legal and parliamentary affairs as well as drinking water and sanitation offered to quit over the recent clashes between pro- and anti-Morsi protesters. At least 24 people were killed and some 1,200 injured in the past week's violence.

Earlier on Monday, five members of the Shura Council (the upper house of the parliament) announced their resignations as well, denouncing the president's speech on Wednesday ahead of the outburst of nationwide protests, arguing that it failed to present any solution to Egypt's ongoing crisis.

However, the cabinet denied on Tuesday news about the resignation of the ministers.
