Baku-APA. At least one people was killed on Friday in Egypt during clashes between the police and supporters of ousted Islamist President Mohamed Morsi, official Al-Ahram news website reported, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
In Fayoum, a city south of the capital Cairo, the clashes left one people dead and three others injured.
Meanwhile, Morsi's supporters staged a string of marches in Cairo and other governorates countrywide to voice their rejection of the military-backed interim government and the new constitution.
Similar clashes erupted near Al-Azhar University in Cairo between students loyal to Morsi and the security forces, but no casualties were reported.
The clashes came two days after Egypt wrapped up a two-day referendum on a new draft constitution, whose initial results showed it would be approved by sweeping majority of votes.
The new constitution is meant to replace the previous one drafted and approved in late 2012 under Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood group, which has recently been labelled by the interim government as "a terrorist organization."
Since Morsi's removal by the military in early July 2013, Islamists have been holding anti-government protests, denouncing Morsi's ouster as "a military coup" and the new constitution as " illegitimate."
