Two dead in clashes between Salafists, police in Tunisia

Baku-APA. The death toll of Tuesday’s clashes between Salafists and police in Tunisia increased to two as another man died from his wounds on Wednesday, official TAP news agency reported, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The man named Khaled Karoui died in Daouar el Hicher area near the capital of his serious injuries sustained in Tuesday’s clashes.

On Tuesday, a man who took part in the attack against a police station in the same locality was killed by gunshot, according to TAP.

The latest attack followed a string of nationwide incidents in which ultra-conservative Muslims attacked shrines and barred restaurants and art galleries from running businesses.

At a press conference held in Tunis on Wednesday, Interior Minister Ali Larayedh said that his ministry is committed to " imposing the rule of law and dealing with offenders on an equal footing regardless of their origins."
