1 killed, 8 injured in clashes near Libyan capital

Baku-APA. One security member was killed Wednesday and eight others were injured during clashes between forces of Libya’s supreme security committee and unidentified armed men in a farm south of the capital Tripoli, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Clashes erupted when Libya’s security forces raided a farm in Souk Alahad district, 40 km south of Tripoli, and were ambushed by unidentified armed men suspected of preparing for terrorist acts, leaving one security member killed and eight injured.

According to Libyan authorities’ preliminary investigation, the armed group is believed to be behind recent blasts in Tripoli, which killed two people and injured three others.

The committee said in a statement that the Libyan security forces haven taken control of the farm and intensified their patrols there, adding that a large quantity of heavy weapons were confiscated.
