Train Derails in Egypt, Casualties Reported

Baku-APA. A passenger train derailed and caught fire south of Egypt’s capital Cairo on Tuesday, at least four people were injured, Egyptian media said, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti.

The train from the town of Sohag crashed into a stationary train near the Cairo suburb of El-Badrashain, and five carriages overturned.

Egypt’s MENA news agency said the accident was caused by passengers of the stationary train, who put barriers on railway tracks in protest when their train stopped to give way.

MENA said, citing sources from health and transport ministries, that four people were injured, but no deaths were reported. Earlier reports said at least four people were killed and more than 70 injured.
