Baku-APA. At least four persons died while 22 others sustained various degrees of injury on Friday in a multiple auto accident which occurred at Erin-Oke, southwest Nigeria’s Osun State, according to the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), APA reports quoting Xinhua.

State sector commander of the FRSC Imoh Etuk confirmed the accident to reporters, saying most of the victims were females.

He attributed the accident to mechanical faults, adding that the accident involved five vehicles including a tanker, a bus, a Toyota Hilux, a Toyota Carina and a Honda car.

"The trailer tanker had break failure and lost control, resulting in a head-on collision with the vehicles coming from the opposite direction," said the road safety official.

According to him, those injured were rushed to the Wesley Hospital, Ilesa, also in the state; while bodies of the deceased were deposited in a morgue.

"The accident would have been avoided if the drivers had observed traffic regulations," Etuk added.
