The added value generated by tourism-related activities in Azerbaijan amounted to approximately AZN 7 billion in 2025, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency Fuad Naghiyev said during the session titled “Emerging Investment Areas: Real Estate, Tourism and Urban Development,” held as part of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, APA reports.
He said that tourism’s share in the country’s economy has reached approximately 5.4%.
The agency chairman said that tourism has become an important component of economic diversification and that the development of the sector also affects a number of other areas of the economy.
He also highlighted the adoption of a new State Program for Tourism Development for 2026–2030.
Fuad Naghiyev noted that one of the main priorities of the program is to create a more favorable and competitive investment environment.
According to him, the program envisages a new mechanism for subsidizing loan interest rates for investment projects involving hotels and other accommodation facilities, health and resort facilities, winter tourism facilities, as well as conference infrastructure supporting MICE and business tourism.
“This program serves as a roadmap for the next four years,” the chairman of the State Tourism Agency said.
He added that the program also envisages mechanisms such as subsidizing investments in accommodation infrastructure, supporting additional scheduled and charter flights, subsidies to attract international tourists, and support for tourism-related events and micro and small tourism businesses.
Fuad Naghiyev also emphasized the importance of developing tourism and recreation zones in terms of expanding investment opportunities.
He said these zones bring together infrastructure, tourism services and destination development, creating opportunities for sustainable tourism and investment.
The chairman of the State Tourism Agency noted that Azerbaijan’s diverse regions, rich cultural heritage and unique tourism opportunities make it possible to create high-value tourism products for international tourists.
