Ahliman Amiraslanov, Azerbaijani MP, chairman of the parliament’s Health Committee, has called for an increase in healthcare spending in the 2018 state budget.
Addressing a discussion of the draft state budget for 2018 at parliament’s meeting on Wednesday, the MP noted that the salaries of health workers in Azerbaijan are very low.
According to him, law salaries of health workers impede effective operation of modern healthcare facilities that are being build in Azerbaijan’s districts.
“The draft state budget for 2018 envisages cuts in healthcare spending. If this figure remains stable or decreases, we will face health problems in the future. The population of Azerbaijan is growing every year. Healthcare spending should be increased,” said Amiraslanov, calling on the Finance Ministry to this issue into account.
