A street in the suburb village of Ponichala (Soganliq) near Georgia's capital Tbilisi has been named after famous Azerbaijani singer Rashid Behbudov.
Azerbaijan’s embassy in Georgia told APA’s local bureau that the decision was reached on 25 July 2017 by Tbilisi’s city municipal council.
The embassy also informed that another street in the 7th micro district of Tbilisi’s Gldani was named after Khudu Borchali, a Georgian national hero of Azerbaijani origin, in 2014.
Local Azerbaijani residents told APA’s Georgia correspondent that there is no street in the city bearing Rashid Behbudov’s name. However, it became clear that these residents were simply unaware because of insufficient coverage in this regard by both local and Azerbaijani media.
