The circle of convicts whose sentences will be reduced by 6 months as a result of the amnesty application has been narrowed down, APA reports.
This was reflected in the draft parliamentary resolution on declaring an amnesty on the occasion of the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" at the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, which was put to discussion at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Legal Policy and State Building.
According to the draft, the sentences of the following convicts will be reduced by 6 months:
• Persons sentenced to imprisonment for a fixed term for committing less serious crimes whose unserved portion of the sentence does not exceed one year by the date this Resolution enters into force;
• Persons sentenced to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years for crimes committed through negligence;
In this case, those who are not subject to amnesty according to the law "On Restrictions on the Application of Amnesty Acts" will be excluded.
