The agreement considers handing over sterilization unit to Azerbaijan and Hungary’s Isotope Institute won the tender for sterilization unit announced by Azerbaijan.
The agreement was signed between IAEA, Hungary’s Isotope Institute and Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). ANAS president Mahmoud Karimov signed the agreement on behalf of Azerbaijan.
“According to the agreement, the Hungarian institute will hand over the sterilization unit to Azerbaijan in a year. In turn, Azerbaijan made additional payment for increasing intensity of isotopes. The resources were transferred to IAEA’s account. We can start to do this work successfullyâ€, Garibov said.
The sterilization unit will be brought to Azerbaijan next year. Azerbaijan needs to construct a building for this unit until that.
The construction work will begin in January, 2012.
