He said the decision was passed at the 32 meeting of the Commission on Aquatic Bioresources of the Caspian Sea. Rauf Hajiyev said all the countries reached agreement on this issue. Deputy Minister said the five littoral states were not given industrial quota for catching sturgeons.
As regards the term of the moratorium on catching sturgeons in the Caspian Sea, Rauf Hajiyev said the Working Group is considering the issue.
“President of Kazakhstan offered 5-year moratorium. But as sturgeons live long, we can not see the results of the moratorium within five years. Therefore, 10 years or more can be effective,” he said.

Deputy Minister mentioned that moratorium on catching sturgeons in the Caspian Sea was imposed in 2006-2009.
