Baku. Sevil Zeynalgizi – APA. Three Caspian littoral states – Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia are ready to implement the moratorium on commercial sturgeon fishing. Other littoral states – Iran and Turkmenistan will declare their thoughts on this issue today, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rauf Hajiyev said, APA reports. He said it wouldn’t be correct to implement moratorium for five years because sturgeon lifetime is very long and therefore it is needed to implement moratorium at least 10 years.

Hajiyev said the Caspian littoral states would submit their reports on the implementation of sturgeon fishing quote at the 32nd meeting of the Commission on Aquatic Bio-resources of the Caspian Sea today. They will submit data of artificial fish breeding and protection of fish.

The quote of fishing for 2012 will be determined at the meeting.
