Azerbaijanâ€™s Ministry of Emergency Situations holds event on the role of women in civil defense - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov â€“ APA. 1616 women are working at the agencies of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan. 709 of them have military and special ranks, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, Lieutenant-General Faig Tagizadeh said at the event on the role of the women in civil defense, APA reports.

Faig Tagizadeh said though the tasks of the ministry were difficult, the women working here coped with their tasks properly. Women work in all agencies of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, including Special Risky Rescue Service, Civil Defense Troops, 101 and 112 telephone services. Deputy Minister added that under the executive order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, chief of the Personnel Policy Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Sevda Shirinova had been promoted to major-general.

Deputy Secretary General of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) Vladimir Kuvshinov said 2011 was dedicated to the role of the women in the civil defense all over the world. The organizationâ€™s official said they visited the rescue unit of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, familiarized themselves with the work of the women.

â€œWe saw professional divers, mountain climbers, sportsmen there. Skillful women are working at the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan,â€ ICDO official underlined.

Parliamentarian Ganira Pashayeva underlined that Azerbaijani rescuers had gained great experience within the short period of time. She said when she was in Turkey she heard the parliamentarians say pleasant words about the Azerbaijani rescuers, who helped eliminate the consequences of the earthquake in Van.

ICDO representative Kuvshinov decorated with medals Sevda Shirinova and a group of employees of the ministry, parliamentarians Ganira Pashayeva and Gulchohra Mammadova, chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Hijran Huseynova.

Faig Tagizadeh said under the order of Minister of Emergency Situations Kemaleddin Heydarov, ICDO Secretary General had been decorated with â€œMedal for merits in military cooperationâ€.

Several members of the international organization, including Kuvshinov were decorated with medals by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
