9-year education program to be compulsory in Azerbaijan, 10-11th forms to attend bias education programs

Minister said 9-year education program would be compulsory, but the 10-11th forms would attend the bias education programs. â€œThis issue demands serious preparation. According to the education law and standard charter of secondary schools, five pilot schools were selected to create basis for useful bias education programs and to form public opinion. These schools are Baku Europe Lyceum, Physics and Mathematics, Informatics School, Elite Gymnasium, Academician Zarifa Aliyevaâ€™s School and School No 6.

Minister said education plans were approved for the 10-11th forms of these schools, the number of subject was reduced. The hours of lessons on mathematics, physics, chemistry were increased in the forms with mathematics-technical bias, mathematics, Azerbaijani history and geography in the mathematics, native language, literature, foreign language, history, natural sciences in the humanitarian bias programs, physics, chemistry, biology in the forms with natural scientific bias.

Mardanov said the bias education programs have been started in the beginning of this academic year. â€œThe results of first half-year will be analyzed, the opinions of the teachers, pupils and parents will be learned and corresponding proposals will be prepared on it. The network of such schools is expected to extend next yearâ€.
