Azerbaijan hosts regional meeting on support of victims of human trafficking and development of social reintegration model

APA reports that chief of the Department to Combat Human Trafficking of the Interior Ministry Javid Shikhaliyev, US ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza and Regional Director of the International Organization for Migration Renate Held participate in the event.

The purpose of the two-day meeting is to create conditions for the international experts to share information on current situation and relevant tendencies on the labor productivity, organ transplantation, gender productivity.

In his speech, ambassador Bryza noted that this project was realized under the auspices of the US State Department. He underlined the combating the human trafficking was very important issue: “It looks like the struggle against the slavery. US Secretary of State expressed her positions on this struggle. I must confess that this problem exists in all countries of the world. The US also takes serious measures against the human trafficking. I must say that Azerbaijan effectively struggles against it”.

According to the ambassador, 33000 victims of human trafficking were determined in the world in 2010, 3600 criminal cases were solved. 700 people were brought to responsibility for the forced labor crime. Bryza also noted that sexual violation is unacceptable.
