APA reports quoting the ministry’s website as saying that some experts noted that radioactive cloud as a result of Fukushima nuclear plant No.1 leakage reached Europe, but it doesn’t threaten the health of people, because it has a little impact on the atmosphere of those countries. Experts of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources consider that these gases will not enter the Azerbaijan’s territory and therefore there is no radiation threat in Azerbaijan, because wind blows toward the American continent. Even it will blow backwards the radiation will lose its activity over the boreal forests and ocean. Heavy isotopes precipitate on ocean and ground and they have short period of dispersion in difference from radionuclide”.

The statement reads that the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources regularly conduct monitoring of radioactive security in the country and newsletters about its results are sent to relevant government agencies and published on the ministry’s website.

According to the results of the monitoring conducted by the Environment Monitoring Department of the ministry on March 25-30, 2011, depending on the sunrays intensity and physical-chemical features of earth materials, daily radiation background accords with the season and analysis showed that β-radioactivity of the atmosphere aerosols was not above the daily norm.

Normal radiation background of the atmosphere in Azerbaijan shows that high radioactivity in Japan caused by the nuclear plant accident don’t have an impact on Azerbaijan.
