Azerbaijan says economically active population reaches 4.566 million

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. As at March 1, 2011, Azerbaijanâ€™s economically active population reached 4 565.8 mln, of which 4331.1 thousand are employed in different spheres of economy and social sectors, said the State Statistical Committee.

SSC says the list number of the hired workers was 1 370.7 thousands including average list number was 1 330.9 thousands which 836 000 were in state sector, 494.9 thousands in non-state sector.

20.4% of hired workers in enterprises and organizations employed in production sector including 2.6% in mining industry, 5.8 % in processing industry, 2.3% in electric energy gas, steam and conditioned air sphere, 1.7% in the sphere of water supply, cleaning of dirty waters and wastes, 5% in construction, 3% in agriculture, 25.8% of service workers employed in education, 20.1% in wholesale and retail trade, repair of cars and motorcycles, 10.1% in health and social services to population, 4.7% in transport and storehouse economy, 4.1% in rest, entertainment and culture sphere, 4% in state management and protection, compulsory social security, 3.2% in activity of profession, science and technique, 1.8% in information and communication, 1.3% in finance and insurance sphere and other.

Employment agencies listed 39.5 thousand people as jobless, of which 43.4% were women.
