Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. “The number of men is sharply increasing in Azerbaijan. It should worry us. According to the State Statistical Committee, the number of women fell to 46% from 51% in Azerbaijan,” Human Rights Commissioner Elmira Suleymanova said at the conference on the theme “Implementation of the law on Prevention of Domestic Violence: raising awareness and international practice” organized by OSCE Office in Baku, APA reports.
Noting that one of the major reasons of the decrease of women is the domestic violence Elmira Suleymanova said criminal abortions resulted in the increase of the number of men.
“Various forms of domestic violence is closely connected with the violation of human rights. Domestic violence is connected with the non-elimination of sex discrimination,” she said.

Human Rights Commissioner said discrimination against women is observed in family, labor market, entrepreneurship, allocation of preferential loans.
“As a result of it, women become economically dependent on their husbands. There must be exact statistics in order to combat this problem seriously,” she said.
