23 students of Azerbaijan Languages University to get education in University of Essex

A meeting with the students leaving for UK and their parents was held at the Azerbaijan Languages University on Monday. Rector of the university, member of the parliament, professor Samad Seyidov, UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan Carolyn Browne, professors of the university attended the meeting. Samad Seyidov said that the university gave an importance to the English language and culture studies: “The realization of the agreement between out university and the University of Essex will contribute to the cultural exchange between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom”.

Ambassador Carolyn Browne welcomed the agreement between the universities and noted that for the first time Azerbaijani and British universities are working together.

Azerbaijan Languages University and University of Essex signed the agreement on October 10, 2010 and according to this agreement, 13 students of the first English school of the Azerbaijan Languages University, three from the second school, two from the school of regional studies and international relations will continue their education at Essex.

According to the agreement, the students will leave for Essex after finishing first or second courses and will receive double diplomas. Professors of both universities and department chiefs will also exchange visits. English skills of the students leaving for Essex were examined and after then they were allowed to get education in the United Kingdom.
