108 education workers, including education department chiefs, school directors dismissed in Azerbaijan

According to Education Minister Misir Mardanov, Working Group on Combating Corruption, Hotline service for ensuring the admission and consideration of the citizens’ appeals have been functioning at the Education Ministry since 2006. The Education Ministry received 51552 letters, appeals, complaints from the citizens and government agencies, 7251 people were received last year.

Minister said 288 out of 1815, who participated in the computer-based exam for vacancies at schools, were employed in 2010-2011, new mechanism was applied in the appointment of directors of comprehensive schools. Touching on the issue of improvement of the mechanism of exams, increase of transparency and public control over the process, Minister said Hotline service must be set up in all educational institutions. Misir Mardanov said 108 education workers were dismissed, including 4 chiefs of regional education departments, 72 school directors, 5 deputy directors, 1 chairman of non-school institution, 6 directors of vocational schools, 1 university teacher, 10 kindergarten directors, 9 chief accountants, 41 were reprimanded strictly, 115 were reprimanded.

Education Minister gave instructions and recommendations to the participants of the meeting.
