Tripoli hosts third Islamic Conference of Ministers in Charge of Childhood

Baku - APA. The Third Islamic Conference of Ministers in Charge of Childhood (ICMCC) has been held in Libyan capital Tripoli, APA reports. 22 ministers from 43 countries and representatives of 21 international organizations are attending the conference and it means the most intense participation in the history of the conference so far.

The mentioned conference is held at the invitation of the ISESCO, in coordination with the General Secretariat of the OIC and in cooperation with the Libyan General People’s Committee for Social Affairs. It is being held under the device “Accelerating Early Childhood Development in the Islamic World”.

Azerbaijan is represented in the conference by the delegation led by Chairperson of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children’s Issues.

Within the framework of the visit Huseynova met with Secretary of the General People’s Committee for Social Affairs Ibrahim al-Zarruq al-Sharif and Waatasemu Charity Association of Libya, UN Goodwill Ambassador Aisha Qadhafi.

Speaking about care and attention shown to family, women and children by the state in Azerbaijan, Huseynova informed the opposite side about works done in our country in this sphere. Libyan side expressed the interest in development of cooperation with Azerbaijan in social care sphere. At the same time, the opposite side was informed about development processes conducted in Azerbaijan.

Establishment of the relations between the State Committee and Waatasemu Charity Association of Libya, new opportunities for future cooperation and implementation of joint projects were discussed at the meeting with head of Waatasemu Charity Association of Libya, UN Goodwill Ambassador Aisha Qadhafi. Letter of invitation was handed to Aisha Qadhafi for participation in the World Cross-Cultural Dialogue Forum in Baku in April.

On February 10, chairperson of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children’s Issues addressed the participants of the conference. Hijran Huseynova gave detailed information to the conference participants about the state policy pursued to ensure all-round development of children in Azerbaijan. She noted that the declaration of 2009 as Children’s Year under the decree of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev gave an impetus to the realization of the activities in this field.

Hijran Huseynova’s proposals on the development of the children living in the conflict zones, preparation of special programs with regard to the disabled children, establishment of the network to strengthen the experience among the countries under the leadership of ISESCO were approved by the conference participants and included into the final document.
