Azerbaijanâ€™s Ministry of Health confessed that illegal payments are demanded from patients at hospitals

There are cases when patients and their relatives are demanded illegal payments at hospitals, especially at maternity homesâ€, Azerbaijani Minister of Health Ogtay Shiraliyev said at the board meeting devoted to outcomes of last year, press service of Health Ministry told APA. To him, the ministry still receives appeals connected with such cases. The Minister also added that such cases must be prevented.

At the same time, Shiraliyev noted the importance of intensification of control over sanitary-epidemiologic regime, observing rules of discipline at hospitals.

Shiraliyev tasked heads of ministryâ€™s structure departments to control hospitals, conduct constant raids, take concrete measures for elimination of revealed shortcomings in a short time. The Minister said that not only hospitalâ€™s leadership, but also everybody who work at the institution has to make efforts, do his/her best for elimination of enumerated shortcomings. Only in this way we can achieve the satisfactory results.
