Umayra Taghiyeva: “Frost is not forecasted in Azerbaijan’s capital in the next few days, the temperature will rise in II ten-days of Januaryâ€

The temperature was 5-6 C above the norm. But changes are observed in weather since the first days of January. Temperature observed in Azerbaijan currently is typical for winter monthâ€, Director of National Hydrometeorology Department at Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry Umayra Taghiyeva told APA.
She noted that currently, it snows in Azerbaijani Dashkasan-Gadabay, Ismayilli, as well as in several regions. That is why it is wrong to speak about abnormal weather taking into account only the temperature in Baku: “The temperature observed in our country is typical for mild winter season. Currently, frost is observed even in lowlands regions of the republic. Minimum temperature in those areas is between -3 and 2 C. Such temperature was not observed in December. The temperature is -4-8 C in mountainous areas and 8-10 C in Absheron peninsula. Such temperatures are characteristic for mild winter seasonâ€.
Taghiyeva said that the weather will be unstable in Azerbaijan till January 12. From evening hours on January 8, the temperature will fall 3-5 C on January 9, 10 and 11. At the same time, precipitation will be observed in the country till afternoon on January 12. Snow is forecasted in mountainous and some submontane regions. It will intensify in some places toward the evening. Rain is predicted in Baku and Absheron peninsula: “Very frosty days are observed in the republic so far. But the temperature will fall to within 3-4 days and correspond to norm of January. Frost is not forecasted in Baku till the middle of Januaryâ€.
To her, the weather will become mil after January 12. The temperature will rise on January 13, 14 and 15: “On January 13, the temperature will be below the norm. It will rise in second ten-days of Januaryâ€.
