80 percent of Azerbaijan Medical University alumni sent to regions to work

Chief of the medical aid department of the ministry Soltan Aliyev said at the board meeting that the ministry reconstructed and re-equipped 45 medical centers in the regions this year and AZN 200 million was sent to the implementation of the State Healthcare Program in five years, APA reports.

Aliyev said due to the government care, medical service for the mothers and children, patients suffered from oncological, endocrinological, blood, kidney and other diseases, were improved and death cases] diagnostic and tactic mistakes were reduced.

Nearly 1500 patients benefited from free medical services and undergo haemodialysis courses in 21 centers. Five perinatal services considered by the state program are functioning now in Baku, Nakhchivan, Ganja, Lankaran, Guba and two others will be opened soon.

According to the National Strategy and Action Plan for 2008-2013, series of measures were taken for prevention of malaria, which reduced the disease cases 35 percent this year.

Aliyev said preparation has been already completed for certification of medical workers. The certification process will be started early next year. It is also planned to pass to the residency system next year.

The official said WHO Regional Committee for Europe would hold its 61st session in Baku in 2011.
