Baku hosts international forum on â€œDialogue of languages and cultures of CIS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the 21st centuryâ€

Delivering speech at the event Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Sergei Lebedev said that the dialogue assumed great importance in period of globalization and confrontation: â€œIt has big potential for cooperation of nations living in the Eurasian spaceâ€.

Deputy Education Minister of Azerbaijan Irada Huseynova noted that the dialogue was necessary for cooperation and mutual understanding: â€œRussian language is not only language of intercourse, it is at the same time a part of mentalityâ€. Huseynova reminded that Mirza Fatali Akhundov wrote a poem devoted to death of Pushkin.

Rector of Moscow State University Irina Khalayeva said that Azerbaijani language and culture had been taught at the university for 3 years.

Rector of Baku Slavic University Kamal Abdullayev spoke about the history of the university. He noted that the university gave education in Russian, Slavic and European languages. Touching upon preparation of experts of Azerbaijani studies at Moscow State University, the rector said that this project was implemented within the framework of the cooperation with Baku Slavic University: â€œThose students will play a role of bridge between Azerbaijan and Russia in futureâ€.

Representative of â€œRIA Novostiâ€ Information Agency Alan Kasaev spoke about the cooperation between the university and the agency said that more than 10 grads of this university had practiced in RIA Novosti. To him, 6 journalists from Azerbaijan will study 2-year postgraduate courses in Moscow. One of these journalists is correspondent of APA Information Agency â€“ Farid Akbarov.

Note that, the event held on basis of Baku Slavic University is held by the support of CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Foundation and organization of Moscow State University. The forum dedicated to 20th anniversary of the CIS is continued in form of plenary and sessions. Exhibition and roundtable are expected to organize within the framework of the forum as well. On November 10, there will be held master classes.
