Baku hosts 44th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad

Baku. Elnur Mammadli - APA. The opening ceremony of the 44th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad was held in Baku, APA reports. Delivering keynote speech at the opening ceremony, Minister of Education Misir Mardanov said that 34th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad was also held in Azerbaijan in 2000. Minister noted that it was not a coincidence; it was connected with economic and scientific development of Azerbaijan. He said that 87 pupils from 14 countries have participated at the Olympiad. He also noted that names of the most Azerbaijani pupils participating in the Olympiad more than once are in the list of winners. Most of them continue their education in Moscow State University; some of them are already graduates of this prestigious educational establishment.

Mardanov said that jury would determine the winners. Well-known chemists of different educational institutions in several countries, as well as chemistry teachers of secondary schools are in the composition of the jury. The minister wished successes to participants.

Members of the organization committee also attended the opening ceremony of the Olympiad.

The results of the Olympiad will be announced on May 3.
