Devechi region of Azerbaijan renamed

Chairman of the parliamentâ€™s regional committee Arif Rahimzadeh gave information about the document. According to him, the renaming of Devechi had been discussed both in the parliamentâ€™s committee and on the local level. Rahimzadeh said Shabran was one of the ancient cities of Azerbaijan dating back to the 5th century. Shabran was called Sabiran, Shebiran at different times.

Following the discussions, the document was put to the vote. It was decided to preserve the name Devechi and call certain area in the center of the region as Devechi.

The parliamentarians also expressed their views on the annexes to the law on â€œElectric powerâ€, â€œGas supplyâ€ and â€œWater supply and sewageâ€. According to the proposed annexes to the abovementioned laws, newly-constructed buildings can be approved by the state commission after they are supplied with electricity, gas and water lines. The annexes proposed to the laws were approved following the discussions.

The issue on â€œApproving the loan agreement between Azerbaijan and Saudi Fund for Development on the reconstruction and extension of water supply and sewage system in Bakuâ€ was also approved.
