Firefighters of the regions of Zardab and Ujar were also involved in the operations. Karimov said ground waters rose in the area as a result of rise of water level in Kura River and Garasu channel.

The authority said there was still no need to evacuate residents from the disaster zone.

Local residents told APA correspondent that it needs to use small pumps in the areas where the large-volume pumps couldn’t be installed. The under-flooding created serious problems in several villages of Zardab region located on the banks of Kura River.
