Azerbaijan holds discussions on establishment of sounding satellite system from low orbit distance

Baku. NIjat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. The second meeting of Council on Cosmic Issues were held in Azerbaijan National Aviation Academy.

According to Ministry of Communication and IT, chairman of Council Arif Pashayev, Minister of Communication and IT Ali Abbasov, Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Bagirov, Chairman of Supreme Attestation Commission Under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Arif Mehdiyev, AZAL President Jahangir Asgerov, Chairman of State Land and Cartography Committee of Azerbaijan Garib Mammadov, Azerkosmos chairman Rashad Nabiyev and representatives of other relevant organizations attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Chairman and members of working group consisting of representatives of Ministries and committees and central executive powers were elected under the Council of Cosmic Issues.

The meeting listened lectures on implementation status of the preparation of the first telecommunication satellite in accordance with the State Program on creation and development of space industry, works in direction of construction of main and reserve above-ground satellite management centre and personnel training.

Moreover, the meeting of the council focused on establishment of sounding satellite system from low orbit distance in Azerbaijan. â€œLaunching of sounding satellites into the orbit assumes great importance for the Republicâ€, said Pashayev. He gave recommendations on the works conducted in this direction.

Note that, under the Azerbaijani Presidentâ€™s decree on establishment of OJSC "Azerkosmos", the Council for Space Affairs was created in order to study scientific and technical achievements and advanced experience in the field of space, take part in taking of measures on realization of state policy in this sphere, at the same time, to prepare the proposals on development of the sphere.

Remind that, first meeting of the Council for Space Affairs was held in July.
