Samsung Galaxy S III coming in Q1
Baku - APA-Economics. According to a Korean tech site, Samsung is reportedly planning to unveil its new flagship Galaxy S III phone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next year, Fudzilla reported.
The event takes place between February 27 and March 1, so Samsung could be the first phone maker to unveil a quad-core design, but HTC could also debut its quad core Edge phone at MWC 2012.
The third generation Galaxy has a lot to live up to. The original Galaxy S paved the way for Samsung’s success in the high-end Android market, while the second generation Galaxy II is currently the best selling high-end Android handset.
The latest incarnation is said to feature a 720p Super AMOLED Plus screen, possibly with 3D support. In addition, LTE connectivity is on board and the new device might feature a 12MP camera instead of an 8MP unit.
As for the processor, we are still not sure what to expect. Samsung will go for an Exynos chip, probably the Exynos 4412 quad-core variant in 32nm, but the exact spec is still unclear and Samsung might still go for a dual-core version. According to earlier reports, the chip could run at up to 1.5GHz, but more importantly, it is supposed to feature next generation Mali T604 graphics core, which should be the fastest graphics core used on any ARM SoC to date.
Frankly we are not sure about the processor spec and you should take it with a grain of salt. If Samsung manages to pull off a 32nm quad-core with T604 graphics, it will undoubtedly be the fastest chip around, at least until Apple’s A6 comes on line, followed by 28nm parts from TI, Qualcomm and Nvidia, which are still months away. We are not sure Samsung will manage to open such a lead over its rivals and there is a good chance the new chip will indeed by a dual-core.
