Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. The National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council organized an event on the digital broadcasting in Azerbaijan, APA reports. Chairman of the Council Nushiravan Maharramli said decision was made concerning a number of issues at the meeting of the Council. One of them is connected with the foreign TV series.

Maharramli said the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council solved all tasks related to the digital broadcasting and decision can already be passed on switching to the digital broadcasting.

“Cable television has been functioning in Azerbaijan for a long time. Cable network is digital and those joining this network do not need to buy decoder,” he said.

Maharramli said a number of frequencies will be obtained after the switch to the digital broadcasting. 12 channels will be available on one television channel after the switch to the digital broadcasting.
“There will be great changes in the quality of description. Inequality in the transmission of TV channels in the country will be eliminated. People will enjoy interactive opportunities on television and radio. People will determine the programs they want to watch,” he said.

Maharramli called businessmen to bring TV sets supporting digital broadcasting.

Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Iltimas Mammadov held a presentation of digital broadcasting.

The deputy minister noted that according to the NTRBC’s decision each package has to contain 10 channels. Digital broadcasting will be available in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic beginning from February, 2012.

“We are planning to start ND EV and HD radio broadcasting in Baku in the first quarter of 2012. The Public Television is also expected to pass to HD broadcasting”, Mammadov emphasized.

He also added that the ministry asked the relevant agencies to ban on import of analogue TV sets.

TV companies will use their analogue broadcasting equipment for other goals, Nushiravan Mahharamli said. The National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council proposed to establish special commission consisting of the experts of TV channels and the Council to assess existed transmitters. Then the ministry will use these equipments to meet a part of the digital broadcasting expenditures.
