Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Switching of population’s 85% to digital TV broadcasting was provided fully, in Azerbaijan, said the Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov.
According to him, the transition to digital broadcasting must be completed in the first half of 2013: “But, we’ll be able to provide this fully, in 2012. I think, the analogue broadcasting will be conducted in parallel with digital broadcasting. Because of the number of digital TV is few. Analogue TV requires additional devices in amount of AZN 30-40. According to law, each Azerbaijani citizen must watch Azeri channels freelyâ€.
Ministry offered to establish new commercial channels and private companies in the country.
He also noted that, 60% of population used unregistered satellite antennas and these were not considered to withdraw.
