New project for ‘Establishment of Water Supply and Sanitation System in Kurdakhani Settlement starts

Baku. Ali Ahmadov – APA-Economics, Kick-off ceremony will be held from KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) for the new project ‘Establishment of Water Supply and Sanitation System in Kurdakhani Settlement in the Absheron Peninsula’ at the Hyatt meeting and conference center, Shusha room in Baku on Tuesday, December 20.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Korea KOICA will provide the project budget which is approximately US $26,000,000 (twenty six million US dollars) of grant from EACP (East Asia Climate Partnership) Fund for the implementation of the project during 2011 to 2014 year. EACP is South Korea’s international development cooperation project aiding developing countries that has difficulties from a natural disaster or climatic change for the green growth in Asia. During G8 expanded summit meeting at Toyako, Japan in July 2008, President Myungbak Yi proposed this partnership.

The object of the project is to upgrade the standard of living of the residents and enhance the environmental conditions by providing water supply and sewerage system in Kurdakhani settlement, in the Absheron peninsula, and to strengthen the relationship and cooperation between the two countries through the successful implementation of the project.

Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is a government agency of the Republic of Korea implementing the government’s grant aid and technical cooperation programs. KOICA has 43 representative offices in partner countries.
