Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. In January-October, 2011, 17.9 mln of cargo was transported via railway transport, down 2.8% from previous year.

State Statistical Committee says average 694 wagons were entrained, 477 wagons â€“ detrained. 30,900 tons of entraining works were conducted on the North direction, 4,500 tons â€“ on West direction and 3,400 tons â€“ on East direction.

Along with this, the cargo turnover in railway transport made 6,413.7 mln tons-km, down 6.5% from 2010.

Besides, 2.917 mln passengers were transported were transported via railway transport, down 28.4% from year earlier.
