â€œAzercellâ€ starts providing 3G services

He noted that 3G service covers the whole country.

â€œBy 3G service the subscribers will be able to use mobile internet with 7.2 Mbits/second speed. And it means 20 times speedier than 2G technology. The speed of 3G will reach 21 Mbits/second in Baku and in some parts of Azerbaijanâ€, he said.

Deputy Minister of Communications and IT Iltimas Mammadov reminded that the license was given to Azercell on November 2, 2011: â€œ3G services will allow to use several e-services, it will increase the number of mobile internet usersâ€. Mammadov noted that in the coming days Bakcell company would start providing 3G services too.

It was also noted that there would be discounts up to 60%. For 1 MB, postpaid and pre-paid subscribers will pay 40 kopecks, the subscribers of â€œGÉ™ncSimâ€ tariff will pay 20 kopecks. 3G services will allow video calls as well, its price will be equal to the price of voice call.

Activation of 3G services is free-of-charge. In order to join this service it is enough to send SMS with the writing 3G to 2525. 3G services will realize video calls, watching TV via mobile telephone, broadcast the event live from the site, send large video files via the telephone. Moreover, it will be able to render remote health services, to do shopping without any cash, payment of utility expenses and several bank transactions.

It will be possible to watch 8 TV channels (Ä°TV, â€œAkÄ±llÄ± TVâ€, TV1000, â€œNickelodionâ€, MTV, â€œÄ°dman-AzÉ™rbaycanâ€, â€œEuronewsâ€, â€œDiscovery Worldâ€) via â€œMobile TVâ€. 1 hour will cost AZN 1, 3 hours â€“ AZN 2, 1 day â€“ AZN 4, 7 days â€“ AZN 10.

Azercell will hold 3GMAX modem campaign too.
