Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan has no opportunity to increase the coverage of lands allocated to municipalities, Chairman of State Land and Cartography Committee of Azerbaijan Garib Mammadov said.

To him, at present time, 1,718 municipalities are operating in the country, 23.55 of lands were given to them, of these 19.6% had been privatized: “If we look at foregn practice, we will see that the municipalities establish economy on the lands allocated to them and get benefit from it. But our municipalities are engaged in purchase and sale of lands”.

Committee chairman also noted that currently, 2.3 mln ha area had been given for summer-winter pasture in the country. Of these, 1.2 mln ha are on the balance of forest fund, 200,000 ha water fund: “Azerbaijan has not such large area to allocate extra lands to municipalities”.
