Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) which operates the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA), has completed the evaluation phase (String Evaluation) Cyrillic domain zone upper level of Kazakhstan, which allows the country to apply for domain “kaz”.

As part of Phase String Evaluation, ICANN representatives evaluate the application for compliance with certain criteria - in particular, the font should not be Latin, but the language used for the blast area, should be the official for the country. Also, certain technical requirements are evaluated as well.

Upon successful completion of the assessment phase, the country is entitled to apply for a delegation of the blast zone, which will be considered to ICANN and IANA.

Currently, domains, written in symbols of the national language, have been delegated to 20 countries and eight other countries were eligible to apply for the delegation.

Domain zones in the Cyrillic alphabet have been delegated to Russia (rf) and Serbia (srb). Russia has already registered over 890 thousand domain names.
