Baku hosts working meeting on combat against narcotrafficking

According to APA-Economics, Deputy Chairman of State Customs Committee Asger Abdulayev noted that, the meeting was held by the initiative of UN Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre.

Near 40 representatives from 24 countries attend the meeting: â€œThe purpose is to discuss the revealed facts on illegal turnover of drugs and psychotropic substance and prevent the smuggle drugsâ€.

Abdullayev noted that, Azerbaijan was used as transit country for smuggle drugs: â€œMainly, Afghan origin drugs are brought to Azerbaijan through Iran. Certain perts of smuggled drugs remain the country for local drug takers and 70-75% transported to the other countriesâ€.

The representatives of Afghanistan, USA, Canada, Sweden and etc countries attend the meeting. The aim is to define the smuggling methods, prevent them.

Besides, the discussions on Black Lily operation, as well presentations on smuggle of hashish through Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia, smuggling of synthetic drugs from Iran are planned to be held at the meeting.
