9-stored underground stops to be constructed in Azerbaijanâ€™s capital

To him, currently, the Cabinet is considering the issue. According to offers, about 100 underground parking areas are considered to build in different places of Baku, as well as in central parts and entrances.

Mammadov said that Ministry of Transport showed initiative about the construction of underground parking areas in the capital. Thereafter, the Cabinet of Ministers tasked different state agencies to discuss the issue related to this and prepare offers.

According to proposals, in central parts of the city it is planned to construct both surface and underground stops in the accesses of 9-stored underground stops. Lots for their construction have already been selected, agreed and shown in the proposals submitted to the government. According to the project, the capacity of new parkings, equal in length and width of 20 meters, will be 108 vehicles.

It is known yet that how much will cost the construction of these parkings, but Mammadov noted that the price would be optimal. To him, parkings must be definitely built for solution of traffic jam: â€œespecially during the Eurovision Son Contest, to be held next year in Azerbaijan may cause big problems in this regard and even paralyze the movement of traffic in the cityâ€.

Note that, the similar problems occurred 3 years ago during the Eurovision contest held in Moscow. Thereat, president was obliged to interfere the issues for solution of jam problem and providence of normal traffic movement.
