Azerbaijan intends to launch observation satellites into orbit

Baku. Ali Ahmadov - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan is currently conducting research to develop low-orbiting Earth observation satellites, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Ali Abbasov said at a cabinet meeting chaired by President Ilham Aliyev, dedicated to the socio-economic development in the first half of 2011.
According to him, the work on space program is conducted in accordance with the considered graphic: “Work on the conclusion of putting of the first telecommunications satellite into orbit until the IV quarter of 2012 is being continued on schedule”.
Initial conditions of sale to foreign countries of more than 50% of satellite services were agreed so far. At the same time, according to the plan work is being carried out also on creating a main and reserve ground control center, training, installation of the French company Arianespace launch vehicle, etc.
Note that, the major financial and organizational problems of the program are implemented under the supervision of the Space Council, established by decree of the Cabinet, the Ministry of Finance and the Head of State.
