New agreement signed between Azerbaijani government and Microsoft company - <font color=red>PHOTO</font>

Baku - APA-Economics. Today, Azerbaijani government and Microsoft company signed an agreement on legalization of Software.

The agreement notes new obligation on decreasing of program piracy in the whole territory of the country and it will help to provide all government departments with legally licensed software.

According to the document, Azerbaijani government undertakes an obligation to decrease the risks related to false software, thus, to establish legalized e-government services in order to improve services for citizens, business entities and government employees. The main purpose of this agreement has been directed to elimination of high piracy level in Azerbaijan currently assessed as 88% on the basis of edition (Research on piracy for 2010 of the Business Software Alliance organization) published on May 12, 2011.

Azerbaijani Minister of Communications and IT Ali Abbasov expressed sureness and noted that the agreement was a big step taken in direction of development of ICT considered foreground sphere for Azerbaijan in the coming years: “It confirms that Azerbaijan plays an important role in the region and welcomes its intention on establishment of economy basing on development of modern technology, cadre potential and science”.

Country Manager for Microsoft Azerbaijan Teymur Akhundov noted that the agreement assumed fundamental significance from standpoint of establishment of stabile software, formation of important work places by involving additional investments to the country and strengthening of accepting of the country as regional leader in technology sphere.

Microsoft vice-president Robert McDowell said that this agreement would create new opportunities for Azerbaijan’s future in the forthcoming years.
