Baku - APA-Economics. Airports in northern Germany began to reopen Wednesday after earlier being forced to close by an ash cloud caused by a volcanic eruption in Iceland, MarketWatch reported.

Germany’s air-traffic-control agency said Bremen and Hamburg airports had been allowed to reopen after the country’s meteorological service found that contamination levels in German airspace were “no longer critical.”

Restrictions on Berlin’s airports were due to be lifted at 2 p.m. local time, or 8 a.m. Eastern time, the agency said. The restrictions had been imposed earlier Wednesday due to potential danger that ash from Iceland’s Grimsvotn volcano poses to aircraft.
