Transportations via Silk Way corridor rise in Azerbaijan

Baku. Vahab Rzayev â€“ APA-Economics. During the first quarter of 2011, 13.3 mln tons of cargo and 60 mln passengers have been transported in Azerbaijan sector of Silk Way transport corridor, up 11.7% and 7.4% from year earlier.

According to State Statistical Committee, 43.5% of cargos were transported by automobile, 35.4% - by railway, 21.1% - by sea transport, up 6.7%, 4.8% and 40.8% in comparison to a year ago.

4.2 mln tons of cargo transported by sea transport made transit cargo, up 34.8% or 1.1 mln tons from year ago. AZN B86.4 mln income came from cargo transportation, AZN 17.9 mln â€“ from passenger transportation, up 19.1% and 15.7% compared with a year ago.
