Victim: Vagif Khachatryan was also present with his brother when Armenians attacked Meshali-UPDATED-2-PHOTO

The next session of the court hearing of the criminal case against Vagif Cherkezovich Khachatryan, one of the members of the illegal Armenian armed formations that committed a massacre in the village of Meshali of Azerbaijan’s Khojaly district on December 22, 1991, is underway, APA reports.

Chaired by judge of the Baku Military Court Zeynal Aghayev, the process hears testimonies of the victims.

A victim of the Meseli tragedy, Esmira Eyyubova, the legal heir of martyr National Hero Kamil Eyyubov said that her husband applied for army voluntarily: “My husband went to front lines voluntarily after Armenians committed crimes against Azerbaijanis in Garabagh. He was severely injured during the Meshali tragedy, he was surrounded and martyred."

Garib Jabiyev, a resident of Meshali, who testified later, said that he was 10 years old at the time of the incident. The victim said that when the Armenians attacked the village, he crossed the river and his legs froze.

He said that women from Badara village also participated in the attack on Meshali: "Their women also came. They were looting the village. We have seen every atrocity. My father stayed in the village and fought, and we left the village through the forest. During those events, my mother Solmaz was also injured. When my father spoke later, he mentioned Vagif and his brother as one of the attackers."

The process will continue tomorrow.

Chaired by judge of the Baku Military Court Zeynal Aghayev, the process hears testimonies of the victims.

During the process, Alish Alishov testified as a victim. He noted that he was in the village during the shooting: “They attacked our village with more than 1000 people. All of the Badara village came upon us. Vagif, Armais, and the others were there. They hit the villager Ganimet with an axe. I personally saw Vagif. They had even shot Ganimat after hitting him with an axe. Even if Vagif does not take responsibility now, he, his brother, and also his relatives have participated in the Meshali incidents. I was the director of the school of Meshali. Vagif knows me very well."

The next session of the court on the criminal case of Khachatryan Vagif Cherkezovich, who is accused of committing genocide in Meshali village of Khojaly district as part of illegal Armenian armed groups, is being held, APA reports.

Victims will testify during the session presided over by Zeynal Agayev, the chairman of the Baku Military Court.

The rapporteur on the criminal case is Judge Jamal Ramazanov.

In past trials, a court investigation was initiated, and the prosecutor announced the indictment. Then the accused and victims of the case were questioned in court.

Armenian citizen Vagif Khachatryan, who is on the international wanted list in connection with the Meshali genocide, was detained at the Lachin border checkpoint in July this year.
