Regarding the forced deportation of Azerbaijanis from their native land in 1988-1991, more than 2,500 victims were interrogated by prosecutor's offices, head of the investigation department Nemat Azizov said during a live broadcast on the official Instagram page of the Prosecutor General’s Office, APA reports.
He noted that Azerbaijanis in general have been subjected to 4 stages of deportation so far.
"All this are being investigated by the prosecutor's office. During those deportations, 100,000 Azerbaijanis were expelled from their homeland. Many of them were killed with special cruelty. Their property was taken from them. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the deportation of Azerbaijanis in 1988-1991, which is considered recent history. Investigations and interrogations are still underway."
